Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is the first step toward becoming a Registered, or Professional, Engineer. The P.E. designation is a prerequisite for work as a consulting engineer, as well as for engineering management positions in many industries. This book prepares applicants with a mini diagnostic test plus a full-length two-part practice examination with questions answered and explained. Prospective test takers will also find valuable brush-up chapters covering all test topics: biology, chemistry, computer programming, dynamics, electricity and magnetism, engineering economy, ethics and business practices, fluid mechanics, materials science and structure, mathematics, probability and statistics, mechanics of materials, statics, and thermodynamics and heat transfer. Additional practice questions with answer keys and explanations follow each chapter.
| Good book for general FE, morning session | 2010-04-26 | 5 / 5 |
|
| It's all what you need to prepare for morning session. Actually, it gives you more difficult problems than in the actual exams in some subjects. But that's good for your practice so that it will not take you much time to solve problems in the actual exam. I didn't take general exam in afternoon session, but this is good for your morning session. If you could review all the subjects (no need to solve many problems as in the book), you will be fine. |
| Terrible, I do not recommend at all! DO NOT BUY! | 2010-04-09 | 1 / 5 |

Good for review of topics and covers material well, although the fact that each section is written by different authors is noticeable and does get annoying. But any other FE review book will do the same thing, DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK! This book has SO MANY ERRORS! It gets to the point where if I get an incorrect answer, I automatically assume it's another error and I waste so much time trying to figure out where the book made the error. It is extremely frustrating and not worth the effort.
In short, this book has way too many errors, should not have gone to print like this. The editor should be fired. |

I bought this book because it was the least expensive FE review book that I could find. And I have found that I got what I paid for. There are countless mistakes both in the text of each chapter and in the practice problems. As other reviewers have stated, this can lead to a ton of wasted time trying to figure out whether you made the mistake or if it was a typo.
The edition that I have is either out of date, or completely wrong on some of the content covered by the FE. Almost the entire chemistry chapter covers material that is not mentioned in the FE supplied-reference handbook.
Each chapter is written by a different person, so they are hit and miss quality-wise. Some give just page after page of equations and definitions, others go more into depth to help you get that missing link back in place. It depends on the author of that chapter.
Overall, I would not recommend this book to anyone, not even poor college students. The errors, lack of teaching for the test, and the inconsistency in material presentation make it of minimal usability for test preparation. |
| even though it's cheap, it's not worth it. | 2010-03-27 | 1 / 5 |

As many other's have said, there are ALOT of mistakes. I just finished the 16 question review at the end of the Engineering econ section. In just this section there were 2 or 3 BIG mistakes. one question I missed, I went to check it in the Answers explained. turns out the correct answer wasn't even a choice!
Even though it was cheap (the main reason I got it), it's not worth it. I'd stick to Kaplan materials.

| Great Source to Prepare for the FE Exam | 2009-11-01 | 5 / 5 |

| This book had a mini diagnostic test to help you see what areas you are having problems with. Then it goes into a review of all subjects covered in the test. At the end of the book there is a real 8 hour design test (morning and afternoon questions). Taking this exam helps you prepare for the actual FE test. A great companion with this book would be the FE Exam Reference Manual because it is the only book that you will be allowed to use during the real test. And knowing how to move around the book to find a certain equation or subject will be to your advantage because you will save time. |
