I cannot imagine being a teacher and not having a resource like this at my fingertips. So my advice to fellow teachers is to get the book and get busy engaging your students in ways you never thought possible.

This updated edition of Revisit, Reflect, Retell incorporates the newest approaches to enhancing students' higher- level cognitive skills in teacher friendly ways.
- Robert J. Marzano

This exciting update of Hoy's classic Revisit, Reflect, Retell helps us see how comprehension skills are really thinking skills - how our goal in reading comprehension instruction is nothing short of helping students learn to think in increasingly sophisticated ways…. A masterful teacher and coach, Hoyt takes us inside her thinking about how instructional strategies fit together to promote student learning. Even if you have a well-worn copy of the original Revisit, Reflect, Retell, you will, like me, want to scoop up this new edition.
- Nell K. Duke
Co-Director of the Literacy Achievement Research Center at Michigan State University, Coauthor of Reading and Writing Informational Text in the Primary Grades: Research-based Practices

Instant, Tangible, Ready To Go2010-08-265 / 5
That's what I'm looking for at any staff development meeting. First, I start with my positive affirmations. I tell myself that despite the boredom and though it's true that I could be of better use with my class at that moment, I am getting paid. People get paid a lot less for a lot worse. Then, I start the hunt. What is the tangible idea that I will walk away with and try in my room tomorrow? I remember the training when each of us received a copy of this book. It was the best staff development I had ever attended. I use so many of these ideas over and over. I use them in small group reading instruction, with the books I read aloud to my class. I use them in social studies and science. Whatever I am teaching, I try to be mindful of the fact that I am always teaching language arts. I am always teaching kids how to use those captions and pictures and headings. We are not just learning about westward expansion. We are learning how to negotiate our way through textbooks, which is a set of skills all its own. This book allows me to turn so many lessons into excellent language arts lessons that push kids towards critical thinking. I give this book to new teachers as gifts. You should really treat yourself.

Linda Hoyt Does It Again2009-04-115 / 5
I own the first edition of Revisit, Reflect, Retell and I didn't think the new version would offer anything new. I was wrong. Linda has formatted the book so that a teacher can glance quickly to see how a suggested strategy might be used. The visuals, graphic organizers, and blackline masters are wonderful. The CD is a helpful tool. I absolutely love the new version.

One of the BEST books a teacher could ever purchase. Are you looking for student engagement, fresh ideas and effective strategies? Then this is the book to buy. Linda Hoyt does an amazing job.

Love the DVD included with the book. She models two of the strategies from the book. I would have given it 5 stars, but think there should have been more strategies in the DVD.
Great!!!2009-03-275 / 5
So useful!! It's not just theories and suggestions, but ideas and worksheets that can be applied and used in the classroom. I'm doing a pre-prac now and bringing it into the teacher so she can use it, too!
Another great publication!2009-03-095 / 5
Linda Hoyt is one of my favorite workshop presenters and her publications are outstanding. The videos included with this product are great, as is the CD containing the worksheets.
